Mexican iGaming Segment Is Predicted to Grow by 70% Till 2027

The AIEJA predicts that the situation can lead to a decline in sector taxes of up to 90%.

Industry experts forecast a large influx of online casino users as players will seek new channels to compensate for the lack of gambling entertainment. This promises to cause a substantial uplift of the digital niche within the next 3 years.

Here are the 2027 revenue predictions for the web sphere that were made:

• before approving new regulation — $3.49 billion;
• after accepting reformed standards — $4.63 billion.

As the recently established rules do not affect the digital segment negatively, this market can widen due to the emergence of new online businesses and a higher level of competition.

The potential issue for the niche is relatively low rates of internet penetration. About 17.3% of all Mexicans with access to the Web are participants in the iGaming sector. To compensate enough for losses in the ground sphere, the country needs to increase this percentage. As the number and coverage of mobile players enlarge, the digital market will prosper.

Statista’s research shows that by 2029, there might be around 31.6 million iGaming users. The average ticket can also substantially increase in the years to come. For now, its range is Mex$200–1,000. By 2026, the figure may be uplifted by 18% YoY.

Comments of the Segment’s Representatives

AIEJA’s President expressed concern regarding the approved regulation. In Miguel Angel Ochoa’s opinion, the law does not prohibit ground slots for now but forbids the launching of new gambling venues across Mexico. This can mean the catastrophic end of flourishing for local halls.

A marketing specialist at Strendus’ digital department noted that web casinos obtained great prospects for the next 3 years. Bernardo Verdejo Landeros also voiced potential revenue growth of up to 70%, which is well beyond the predictions made several months ago. Additionally, he emphasised the need to continue delivering clear rules for all the sphere participants and attracting investments.

Roberto Müller, Playdoit’s CFO, made a few statements:
